Moose Jaw Fans hope 2003 will be the year of the Dragon

(CBL Newswire) - By Niko Jackoman of the Moose Jaw Melorist

Fans gathered today in beautiful downtown Moose Jaw to celebrate the success of the 2002 Moose Jaw Gamblers who made it all the way to game seven of the Farmers League championship series and to witness the surprise unveiling of a new team nickname, logo, and stadium name. The team will now be known as the Moose Jaw Dragons and will play their home games at the newly renovated downtown stadium "The Weyr".

When asked why the change CBL 2002 Owner Of The Year Torin Stefanson said, "Well, they asked the same thing when Loonies were introduced. I guess some people just don't like change. But seriously we felt that perhaps a spanky new logo and better cushions in the stands plus an off-season trade or four may push us over the hump next year so we can win it all. That's our goal for 2003 but it won't be easy there are some great teams out there and we are in a particularly tough division."

The Dragons are rumoured to be looking to add some more offence with outfield and DH being logical places to upgrade.
