CBL Playoffs Round Two Preview

(CBL Newswire) - By Niko Jackoman of the Moose Jaw Melorist

After some upsets and surprises here is a look at the 2007 CBL League Championship Series.

Fishermen League
Windsor Spitfires (107-55) vs Owen Sound Crusaders (105-57)
Season Series - Windsor 7-6
These two teams battled it out all season for supremacy in the Fishermen West.. That turned out to be a moot point as both teams made the playoffs due to the wild card. Now they have to face off in a battle that really counts. The battle to see who will go on the Battle for the Beer to face the Farmers Champion and see if they can bring the CBL Championship back to the FSH for the first time since the Blackwater Kolts did it in 2002. These two teams are very evenly matched with a good balance of pitching and hitting and basically you have to flip a coin to predict who will win this series. This intrepid reporter did just that and came up with the result below. Look for a lot of close low scoring games.
Prediction: Owen Sound in 6

Farmers League
Leduc Grizzlies (115-47) vs Creston Kokanee (90-72)
Season Series Tied 6-6
Leduc started this season as the favourite to win the BFTB and so far they have lived up to the hype but now they must face the ONLY team in Farmers league against whom they did not win the season series. Creston played Leduc to a 6-6 draw in the regular season and won in convincing fashion over the Farmers East Champions theMoose Jaw Dragons in the first round. The Kokanee have a lot of momentum coming in and a lot of playoff experience. Creston is a fairly old team and they have a rival now in the Farmers West in the Kelowna Americans and so a lot of the Kokanee’s players have to think that this may be their last shot at the Beer. The Grizzlies though are no strangers to the post-season and look to continue the strong play that has made them the class of the Farmers League and the team to beat. This will be a hard fought series and could go either way but the odds makers are favouring Leduc.
Prediction: Leduc in 7
