Decimated!

(CBL Newswire) - By Niko Jackoman of the Moose Jaw Melorist

The start of the 2008 season did nothing to help Moose jaw's chances at claiming the championship. In the first 4 games the Dragons have lost 3 skilled players, two for 3 or more months.

First baseman Menachem Gamba will be out for 3 to 4 moths with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament. That will definitely hurt the offense, as Gamba has been a RBI machine for many years in the CBL.

Not only did they lose their talented first basemen, but they lost both of their catchers! Josias Gagliano is lost for 4 - 6 months with a fractured neck, and could end up being a career ending injury. They also lost Chung Fahlsing for 2 to 4 weeks, so they had to go out and find a catcher fast.

The Dragons quickly made a trade with Toronto, in which Moose Jaw receives catcher Kraig Dogan, and sent Shovel Heise and a third round pick to the Polar Bears.

Moose Jaw wasn't the only team to feel the pain of injuries, as 19 players have been injured in just the first 8 games. There has been rumors that CBL management has done something to cause all the injuries, but Commish Wesley repeatedly denies any changes or wrong doings.
