THE BATTLE FOR THE BEER

AN ITD SPECIAL PRESENTATION

(CBL Newswire) - by B-Mac of the Sherwood Shitrag

It's Friday morning and John Thronberg held an optional, light practice. The team had got off the plane around midnight but most of the eager club showed up. "The younger guys are pissing themselves, they can't believe it. So are the older guys, they ain't show it but they are excited. I am jumping up and down like a kid. No one thought we could do it. But we are here." Thronberg said. It's a nice, crisp morning in C-Town. There are three games of pepper going on right now and the pitchers are warming up in the pen. After scoring 5 runs in the last 2 innings against a tough Storm team, C-Town will travel to Moose Jaw Saturday to face its Farmers' League rival.

Meanwhile, it's Saturday Afternoon in a diamond just outside of Moose Jaw and Torin Stefanson was looking over his club. It's just after noon and Stefanson is chowing down on his hot dog and coke. A team full with veterans looking for most of them, there first tastes of the cherished CBL beer. This might be their last year in the spotlight in the Farmers East.

Two teams wanting the title. Which one will get it?

C-Town doesn't have a MVP on there roster but get it done with every guy putting in some effort. "That's why I think they do so well." Said a Farmers League Scout, "I don't see them much but everyone pinches in they do very well." With a ton of lefty/righty specialists, the Blues say they are ready for whatever Moose Jaw throws at them.

The Dragons, who had maybe the toughest road to the playoffs, who had to win the Farmers East, then swept the Vancouver Giants following that up with a 7-game win over the Cold Lake Mud Cats. The Dragons rotation, usually one of the best in baseball, might endure a long series because of the specialists that the Blues have. Their offense will rely on the long ball as 8 guys hit 20 or more homeruns.

As much as like C-Town, I really think that the match up of Moose Jaw Line-up vs. C-Town Pitching will determine this series. Moose Jaw in 7.
