Dragons Sweep Farmers League Player of the Month Awards

(CBL Newswire) - by Niko Jackoman for the Moose Jaw Melorist

After the Moose Jaw Dragons surprising dash to not only a playoff berth
but the Farmers East Division Championship it's not a big leap to think
that voters would think about some Dragons players for player and
pitcher of the month honours. The Dragons went on a incredible run
winning 32 of 33 games including 23 in a row at one point. Key to this
success were some veteran Dragons.

Player of the month honours went to 2B Langston Burrel and Pitcher of
the month to Elisha Rhymer. Rhymer went 6-0 with a 1.70 ERA to pick up
the award while Burrel hit .348 with 14 homers finishing the season
with a 14 game hitting streak.

Not only did Rhymer and Burrel pickup awards but the Dragons ace
starter Caden Sharif finished fifth in the voting for pitcher of the
month going 5 -0 with a 2.22 ERA and Dragons 1B Devontay Wisell was the
runner up for player of the month honours hitting .342 with 10 homers
and racking up a 35 game hitting streak, tied for second longest in CBL
history. Wisell and Burrel have long manned the right side of the
Dragons defense. Among the top defenders in the game they have each
compiled streaks of over 1600 games played with out an error.

The Dragons hot finish has Moose Jaw fans hoping that their September
surge carries over into October.
