Typhoon Star's All Star No Show

(CBL Newswire) - by Les Nessman of Lethbridge Endeavor

News from the All-Star game was not good for Lethbridge. Typhoon center fielder Clyde Monsignor has been lost for the season. Monsignor felt a twinge in his arm while throwing a ball into third base during a game against Calgary on July 7th. "I just felt a pain in my bicep, and I had no power left in my arm", said Monsignor after the game.

Typhoon trainers pulled Clyde from the game and determined after checking him out, that he should stay out of the lineup for a couple days, and return after the All-Star break. Monsignor was voted into the All-Star game and intended to play, but after seeing a specialist during the break he and the team learned that he will be out the rest of the season. Monsignor seemed deflated when talking with reporters, "It sucks... we aren't that far out of the playoff picture and I know I could have helped."

Lethbridge manager, Vasilios Franta was shocked and angry to hear the news, "All I know is the doctors here said he just needed to rest his arm for a few days, and now he's out the whole damn year. I think theres more to it than that, I think someone tried to force him into the All-Star game and that is where he aggravated the injury. I wouldn't put it past the commissioner to do something like that, he probably told Money (Monsignor) that it was for the good of the game to have him in there, and Money is such a good guy, he went along with it".

Franta went on to say, "Now because of a commissoiner who thinks more about the game than the personal well-being of its players, Clyde has severely damaged his arm and we have to go the rest of the season without our all star centerfielder!".

Whatever happened with Monsignor, it sure does put Lethbridge behind the 8 ball. With no real backup at centerfield they are relying on second baseman Bunny McNeil and third baseman Tito Hoard to split the duties in the outfield.
