Great start for London !

Mustangs are 6-1

The new beginning for the London Mustangs, formerly Windsor Spitfires, has started off with a bang, attracting many fans to the ball park. The same old players wearing brand new uniforms from London have made their mark, as the team improved to 6-1 after the first seven games.

London opened the 2012 CBL regular season taking 2 out of 3 games, and they continued today with 4 straight wins, including a a 3 game sweep of the Blackwater Kolts in a very tight series and a win in the first game of a series with the Port Hope Battery.

Two London players sit atop the league leaders in batting average, including veteran first baseman Amani Escalante (.556) and catcher Pat Douglas (.533). Both players also figure in the top 10 in slugging percentage, hits and runs runs created. Honourable mentions also go to second baseman / franchise player Trad Ale (triples, runs) and designated hitter Gordon Neurohr (RBIs).

Pitching wise, the Mustangs will have to keep performing and tighten up in the bullpen. Pitching staff ace Edilbert Milosevic has given two quality starts scattering 8 hits and striking out 6 without allowing a run. Abbott Botsfors has also given 2 great starts, not allowing an earned run either. Other London pitching wins went to Paul Schildknecht, Lefty Edens, Mul Shanner and Dirk Arko, who are all relievers.

As most people will say, this is only the beginning of a long season, but the London Mustangs are very happy to greet their hometown fans with a strong start, and hope to turn many heads this season with a unique lineup, that seems to be working so far.

This being said, I will leave you with a thought:
"In baseball, you win a third of your games and you lose a third of your games, it's what you do with the remaining third that determines how good you really are"
