Charlottetown's Looking at the Beer

(CBL Newswire) - by Bull Tallis of the Charlottetown Examiner

Not satisfied with a .786 winning percentage, Charlottetown owner, John Thronberg, engineered a massive 3 way trade with London and Winnipeg late last night. Fourteen players and six draft picks are moving in the deal including former first overall pick, catcher Pat Douglas and 168 game winner and 6 time all star lefthander Edilbert Milosevic.

"I realize that we're giving up a substantial portion of our future in moving Kirker and Demouy along but we feel that the reward is more than worth the potential risk," Thronberg said. "Doakes gives us a legitimate leadoff hitter and the addition of Milosevic really strengthens our rotation. One thru five, I don't think that we can be matched. And Escalante, with the month that he's been having, you can only hope that he'll keep that kind of production up. But really for us, Pat (Douglas) was the key. He's a middle of the order threat and a gold glove catcher. Players like that are special. This substantially improves our offense--something that we felt hurt us the last couple of years in the post-season. We're going for it all this year!"
