2020 Predictions

A Calgary Perspective

(CBL Newswire) - by Lehcim Reinreb of the Calgary Sun

Here are my predictions for 2020. In parenthesis the standing in 2019. Three colours used Blue means the team is staying where it is. Green, this team is going to make a move up soon. Red, this team is going to make a move down soon.

Fisherman's

East

1- Blackwater (1) Champions in 2019, first place in 2020. Chabot is one of the best and his team will be back in playoffs (easily).
2- Charlottetown (2) An old team still good enough to finish 2nd and battle for the WC Spot.
3- PEI (3) Well, my friend, the PLAN is taking shape. A good youg team missing one or two great position players. Maybe the trades Justin made will get them to 2nd place.
4- West Bay (4) Am I the only one thinking this is one of the deepest pitching staff in the entire CBL ? Trade depth and get proven players with speed and 2nd place may be reachable.
5- Fredricton (5) This team have to get new directions before going in the green color.

Central

1- Quebec (1) One team the Fisherman's team will have to battle for years to come.
2 WC- Port Hope (2 WC) Will still be in the playoffs as the Wild Card team.
3- Val D'or (4) Team is improving but still have a lot of work to do.
4- Cobourg (5) A bad team but good enough to finish 4th.
5- Ottawa (3) Sell everything that can be sold and start from scratch.

West

1- London (2) Great looking young team. Great balance between batting and pitching.
2- Guelph (1) An aging team. Still a good team but not good enough to repeat.
3- Owen Sound (4) Team is improving but there's a serious risk it may get caught in the middle of the pack.
4- Toronto (3) Appleman's departure for retirement hurts a lot. An aging team needing a lot of works.

Farmers

East

1- Regina (1) Still good enough to finish 1st but may be in red color as fast as next year.
2- Grand Rapids (2) Should finish close to Regina. may be the worst second place team in the league.
3- Saskatoon (4) To say that this team may finish 3rd is saying a lot about what was a great division.
3- Moose Jaw (5) May finish 4th with less than 60 wins. Things are coming for Torin but not in the next 3 years.
3- Yellowknife (3) A lot of works to be done especially with position players.

Central

1- Calgary (1) Great offense. Great pitching and no retiring.
2- Fort Mac (4) Things are coming fast to this explosive young team.
3- Lethbridge (3) Still a decent team but where to go is the question ?
4- Cold Lake (2) Batting and scoring point may be a serious issue for what was the league's best franchise.
5- St-Paul (5) Will not finish 5th next year. A good looking team but will have to work hard to reach Fort Mac another young team.

West

1- Kelowna (1) Not crazy enough to pick against Kelowna. Still may be in red color soon.
2 WC- Victoria (3) I had to pick a new playoffs team. This is a good team.
3- Creston (2 WC) A great team that will miss the playoffs by one game.
4- Vancouver (4) A slowly improving team in a very competitive division.

Playoffs

Quebec over Port Hope
Blackwater over London

Blackwater over Quebec

Calgary over Victoria
Kelowna over Regina

Calgary over kelowna

Calgary over Blackwater

That's my reward for having done that!

Good luck to all and remember : I would like to get it all wrong so work hard everybody!
