Matt Adam
Relief Pitcher | PEI Argonauts
Pitching He's got a really stong arm, so he can blow it by you on occasion. It's tough to get much loft on the ball against him, as he works down in the strike zone to begin with and his two-seamer produces mostly groundballs. His fastball is just average, and therefore he relies heavily on placing it in different parts of the strike zone. Adam also has a decent changeup. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting Adam remains one of the best fielding pitchers in the game's history. He has quick feet and can catch runners napping at first or second base. Adam is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Adam has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The PEI Argonauts have been known to use Adam as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook The PEI Argonauts were smart, they locked Adam up to a long term contract. There's no question in anyone's mind he's a franchise player. This kid has earned his ticket to AAA. The PEI Argonauts will call Matt Adam up as soon they have a roster spot and a tailored uniform. I don't say this often, but I'll say it for Adam: he's one of the highest rated pitchers on my scouting sheet.
