Justin Alken-Maes@
Relief Pitcher | Free Agents
Pitching If you're going in to face Alken-Maes, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. Alken-Maes has no endurance. He's good for an inning an outing, tops. He frequently leaves fastballs up in the strike zone, where they get pounded. But Alken-Maes, do us a favor. Stop throwing that changeup. It looks like a beachball. He's trying to develop a sinker, but as of yet it's been well below par. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting Alken-Maes does a very poor job of holding baserunners because of his deliberate move to home plate. He's slow to get off the mound to field his position, especially to the third-base side. Alken-Maes is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Alken-Maes has some pop in his swing.
2025 Outlook What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed Alken-Maes to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Alken-Maes.
