Judd Alvarado
Relief Pitcher | Val d'Or Sharks
Pitching He keeps his pitches low in the strike zone and throws a heavy ball. The bottom also falls out of his very good changeup. His slider is sharp and breaks both horizontally and vertically. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. The Val d'Or Sharks hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting Alvarado's move to first base is average. Alvarado is nothing special in the field. Alvarado is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Alvarado has some pop in his swing.
2025 Outlook The Val d'Or Sharks signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Alvarado like a hot potato if something better comes along.
