Hitting
Bailes is an excellent mistake hitter who belts middle-of-the-plate fastballs or hanging breaking balls. During the last two years, he has become more patient and gotten better loft on the ball. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. You can expect Shannon Bailes to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is.

Baserunning & Defense
Bailes is an intelligent baserunner with average speed, but he's not a basestealing threat. When you play Bailes you're not putting him in for his glove. He's also one of the better throwing shortstops in the league.
