Tony Barrett   Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players Pitching A groundball pitcher, Barrett needs to have sharp command to succeed. Barrett can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Barrett also has a decent changeup. He can hit 90 MPH but is too smart to try to get his fastball past most hitters. Dating back to his days in the minors, Barrett has been more effective against righthanders than lefthanders. Defense & Hitting He's reasonably quick to the plate but needs to vary his pickoff moves. Good baserunners appeared to time him last year. Barrett is nothing special in the field. Barrett is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Barrett has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Barrett as a pinch-runner on occasion. 2025 Outlook Barrett has impressed at the A-ball level.
