Chresten Bitner
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching If you're going in to face Bitner, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Bitner, and that's saying a lot. Bitner has no endurance. He's good for an inning an outing, tops. He frequently leaves fastballs up in the strike zone, where they get pounded. But Bitner, do us a favor. Stop throwing that changeup. It looks like a beachball. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, Bitner's curveball tends to hang. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting He has a poor pickoff move and a slow delivery, so basestealers can run at will. He's slow to get off the mound to field his position, especially to the third-base side. Bitner is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Bitner has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Bitner as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook Bitner was a rule-five pickup for the Retired or Inactive Players last year. I think The Retired or Inactive Players just didn't want to be left out of the Rule-V draft, why else would you sign Bitner? But if you ask me, I'll pass on Bitner.
