Dustin Bodenshok
Starting Pitcher | Vancouver Orcas
Pitching Bodenshok will give up home runs, but rarely with the game on the line. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. Dating back to his days in the minors, Bodenshok has been more effective against righthanders than lefthanders.
Defense & Hitting He has a very good move to first base and is solid at controlling the running game. He tends to fall off slightly to the first-base side of the mound, making him vulnerable to bunts toward third base. He makes up for that minor flaw by being aggressive in fielding his position. Bodenshok is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Bodenshok has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Vancouver Orcas have been known to use Bodenshok as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook The Vancouver Orcas signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Bodenshok like a hot potato if something better comes along.
