Tom Bowen
Shortstop | Retired or Inactive Players
Hitting The book on Bowen is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. Let's face facts: Bowen hits a lot of ground balls... and in my book, if you're slow of foot and put the ball on the ground, you're bound to get tied up in the double play. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. You can expect Tom Bowen to pull the ball.
Baserunning & Defense Bowen isn't a good baserunner. He doesn't get good jumps on steals nor runs sharp routes around the bases. Minor league scouts have accused Bowen of being a liability in the field. His biggest problem in the field simply has to be his throwing arm... it's well below par.
