Garrett Breslin
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching A groundball pitcher, Breslin needs to have sharp command to succeed. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. Breslin also has a decent changeup. The Retired or Inactive Players hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. The one thing I must say I don't like about Breslin is how easily rattled he gets. If he makes a mistake to a hitter and the guy winds up on second or third, you can pretty much count on the guy scoring. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting His move to first isn't very good, but his delivery is fairly quick and he isn't overly vulnerable to the stolen base. He tends to fall off slightly to the first-base side of the mound, making him vulnerable to bunts toward third base. He makes up for that minor flaw by being aggressive in fielding his position. Breslin is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Breslin has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Breslin as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook AA isn't the right place for Breslin. Expect the Retired or Inactive Players to send him down for some minor retooling. I just don't know if The Retired or Inactive Players are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
