Hitting
The book on Burns is that you can knock the bat out of his hands with an average major league fastball. Burns always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.
Baserunning & Defense
Burns doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a couple bases each season without getting caught very often. Minor league scouts have accused Burns of being a liability in the field. Fred's arm leaves a little to be a desired.
2025 Outlook
Burns was a rule-five pickup for the Retired or Inactive Players last year. I think The Retired or Inactive Players just didn't want to be left out of the Rule-V draft, why else would you sign Burns?
