Roy Chamberlin
Starting Pitcher | Grand Rapids Red Dogs
Pitching He's got a really stong arm, so he can blow it by you on occasion. He keeps his pitches low in the strike zone and throws a heavy ball. His curveball is solid; he throws it better than your average starter. Chamberlin can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. His fastball is just average, and therefore he relies heavily on placing it in different parts of the strike zone or setting it up with his curveball. He has an above-average changeup and the ability to throw from a variety of arm angles. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting He fields both bunts and slow groundballs in front of the plate equally well. His pickoff move is merely average. Chamberlin is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Chamberlin has some pop in his swing.
2025 Outlook Chamberlin has arguably the best stuff in baseball.
