Billy Chaplin
Shortstop | Retired or Inactive Players
Hitting He has the mental discipline to handle clutch situations. This guy can't hit a watermelon with a lampost. With his slap-hitting approach, Chaplin always hits like he already has two strikes. The results are usually groundballs or line drives to the opposite field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. You can expect Billy Chaplin to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is.
Baserunning & Defense Chaplin isn't a good baserunner. He doesn't get good jumps on steals nor runs sharp routes around the bases. Minor league scouts have accused Chaplin of being a liability in the field. Billy's arm leaves a little to be a desired.
