Petr Claiborne
Relief Pitcher | Cold Lake Mud Cats
Pitching His changeup isn't bad... he fools his share of hitters. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. His composure needs work. When Claiborne starts getting hit, he gets mad and loses concentration. Claiborne has no endurance. He's good for an inning an outing, tops. He traditionally fares better against lefties.
Defense & Hitting For a lefty, his move to first base is average at best, and he has a tendency to forget about runners at second, thereby creating opportunities to swipe third. A shaky fielder, he's slow to react to grounders and often looks unsure on his throws to the bases. Claiborne is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Claiborne has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Cold Lake Mud Cats have been known to use Claiborne as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook The Cold Lake Mud Cats signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Claiborne like a hot potato if something better comes along.
