Emerson Clougherty   Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players Pitching He struggles with his command at times and is still learning to mix his pitches and set up hitters. Clougherty has to keep the ball down, especially against lefties, or he gets hit hard and often. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. His composure needs work. When Clougherty starts getting hit, he gets mad and loses concentration. Dating back to his days in the minors, Clougherty has been more effective against righthanders than lefthanders. Defense & Hitting He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. Clougherty doesn't make much of an attempt to combat the running game. Basestealers ran at will last year. Clougherty is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Clougherty has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Clougherty as a pinch-runner on occasion. 2025 Outlook If Clougherty doesn't perform, the Retired or Inactive Players won't hesitate to send him down to the minors.
