Jordan Commons
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching When his release point drops below three-quarters, his fastball tends to hang in the strike zone. Sometimes I wish he'd just give up on throwing the changeup, it's like a BP ball! If you're going in to face Commons, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Commons, and that's saying a lot. Commons has no endurance. He's good for an inning an outing, tops. Dating back to his days in the minors, Commons has been more effective against righthanders than lefthanders.
Defense & Hitting He tends to fall off slightly to the first-base side of the mound, making him vulnerable to bunts toward third base. He makes up for that minor flaw by being aggressive in fielding his position. Commons doesn't make much of an attempt to combat the running game. Basestealers ran at will last year. Commons is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Commons has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Commons as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook But if you ask me, I'll pass on Commons.
