Clifton Dickson
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching If you're going in to face Dickson, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. But Dickson, do us a favor. Stop throwing that changeup. It looks like a beachball. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, Dickson's curveball tends to hang. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting He doesn't hold runners very close, which gives his catcher a bit of a workout. He hurts himself by falling awkwardly off the mound in his follow-through, which allows too many balls to go through the middle for base hits. Dickson is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Dickson has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Dickson as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook But if you ask me, I'll pass on Dickson.
