Onie Doakes
Second Baseman | Retired or Inactive Players
Hitting The Retired or Inactive Players do tend to sit Doakes when the opposing team throws a lefty. It's no secret he can't touch the left-handed breaking ball. He rarely pulls pitches, preferring to shoot line drives to left-center.
Baserunning & Defense Doakes isn't a fluid second baseman, but he's not afraid to get dirty and gets the job done. His arm is accurate enough. Doakes doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a few bases each season without getting caught very often.
2025 Outlook The Retired or Inactive Players signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Doakes like a hot potato if something better comes along.
