Ed Donohue
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching God, who doesn't love a knuckler? I saw a slow-motion version of one of his pitches on TV, it's no wonder they're unhittable! Good pitchers have been known to develop this pitch late in their careers just to prolong it by a few years. Donohue can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Because he can't overpower hitters, Donohue has to fool them instead. He changes speeds well enough to keep righthanders from teeing off on him.
Defense & Hitting He has quick feet and can catch runners napping at first or second base. Donohue is nothing special in the field. Donohue is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Donohue has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Donohue as a pinch-runner on occasion.
