Kian Gervasio
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Gervasio can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. His stuff becomes less sharp as he gets into the late innings. Sometimes I wish he'd just give up on throwing the changeup, it's like a BP ball! He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting He has a fair pickoff move and isn't a particularly easy target for basestealers. He tends to fall off slightly to the first-base side of the mound, making him vulnerable to bunts toward third base. He makes up for that minor flaw by being aggressive in fielding his position. Gervasio is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Gervasio has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Gervasio as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook AA isn't the right place for Gervasio. Expect the Retired or Inactive Players to send him down for some minor retooling. I just don't know if The Retired or Inactive Players are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
