Fred Gilbert   Center Fielder | Retired or Inactive Players Hitting This guy can't hit a watermelon with a lampost. Gilbert always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency. Baserunning & Defense Gilbert doesn't have great speed, though he reads righthanders' moves well enough to steal a couple bases each season without getting caught very often. Minor league scouts have accused Gilbert of being a liability in the field. His arm is accurate enough. 2025 Outlook Gilbert was a rule-five pickup for the Retired or Inactive Players last year.
