Darcy Goff
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He's a pretty good ground-ball pitcher, which I like because ground balls stay in the park. He has an above-average changeup and the ability to throw from a variety of arm angles. The Retired or Inactive Players hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. His composure needs work. When Goff starts getting hit, he gets mad and loses concentration. You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Goff, and that's saying a lot. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting His pickoff move is only fair. He tends to fall off slightly to the first-base side of the mound, making him vulnerable to bunts toward third base. He makes up for that minor flaw by being aggressive in fielding his position. Goff is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Goff has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Goff as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook One has to wonder what Darcy Goff is doing in AA. In all honesty, he could use a lot of work on the fundamentals in the low minors. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Goff.
