Humberto Gomez
Catcher | Quebec Bulldogs
Hitting In past seasons, Gomez has been a bit of a liability with men on base. With his slap-hitting approach, Gomez always hits like he already has two strikes. The results are usually groundballs or line drives to the opposite field. The switch-hitting Gomez has better plate coverage and more power from the left side than when he bats righthanded. You can expect Humberto Gomez to hit the ball to the opposite field... that's just the kind of hitter he is.
Baserunning & Defense He doesn't get good jumps on grounders, but his routes are fine and his hands aren't bad. His arm is accurate enough. Gomez has below-average speed and is a poor baserunner.
2025 Outlook What The Quebec Bulldogs was thinking when they signed Gomez to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks. Gomez isn't cutting the mustard in the low minors. It's time for Humberto to investigate other career options, like coaching highschool ball.
