Desi Hagerman
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching If you're going in to face Hagerman, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. He frequently leaves fastballs up in the strike zone, where they get pounded. But Hagerman, do us a favor. Stop throwing that changeup. It looks like a beachball. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, Hagerman's curveball tends to hang. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting Hagerman does an average job of holding runners. Hagerman seems distracted after his delivery. He's sometimes out of position, fails to cover a base or doesn't back up throws. Hagerman is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Hagerman has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Hagerman as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook Hagerman was a rule-five pickup for the Retired or Inactive Players last year. I think The Retired or Inactive Players just didn't want to be left out of the Rule-V draft, why else would you sign Hagerman? But if you ask me, I'll pass on Hagerman.
