Jamir Headen
Relief Pitcher | Grand Rapids Red Dogs
Pitching He's got a really stong arm, so he can blow it by you on occasion. Headen also has a decent changeup. He traditionally fares better against lefties.
Defense & Hitting He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. Headen would seem to be an easy target for basestealers as he has a pedestrian pickoff move. But teams rarely try to run on him, perhaps because his pitches get to the plate quickly. Headen is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Headen has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Grand Rapids Red Dogs have been known to use Headen as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook The Grand Rapids Red Dogs signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Headen like a hot potato if something better comes along.
