Asher Janiszewski
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Janiszewski performs extremely well in the late innings, but unfortunately his endurance prevents him from getting there very often. Janiszewski can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. Janiszewski also has a decent changeup. He can hit 90 MPH but is too smart to try to get his fastball past most hitters. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting Though he lacks a good pickoff move, he checks the running game with a compact stretch delivery. He tends to fall off slightly to the first-base side of the mound, making him vulnerable to bunts toward third base. He makes up for that minor flaw by being aggressive in fielding his position. Janiszewski is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Janiszewski has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Janiszewski as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook AA isn't the right place for Janiszewski. Expect the Retired or Inactive Players to send him down for some minor retooling. I just don't know if The Retired or Inactive Players are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
