Fred Lanier   Relief Pitcher | Free Agents Pitching He can get groundballs when he needs them in a jam. Lanier also throws a screwball. If you're going in to face Lanier, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Lanier, and that's saying a lot. This man owns lefties. Put it this way, if your lineup is full of them, you might want rethink your lineup. Defense & Hitting Lanier is nothing special in the field. He doesn't have much of a pickoff move and he's slow getting the ball to home plate out of the set position. Lanier is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Lanier has some pop in his swing. 2025 Outlook What The Free Agents was thinking when they signed Lanier to a long contract, is beyond me: this guy flat-out sucks.
