Kailean Lounder
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He struggles with his command at times and is still learning to mix his pitches and set up hitters. Lounder has to keep the ball down, especially against lefties, or he gets hit hard and often. No one questions this kid's heart. They do question why he just can't get it done late in the game. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, Lounder's curveball tends to hang. In his first taste of the majors, he has kept righthanders in check but wasn't as effective against lefties.
Defense & Hitting His slow delivery makes him fairly easy to steal upon, but Lounder helps himself by holding runners with throws to first, and with slide steps and varied deliveries to home. Lounder is nothing special in the field. Lounder is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Lounder has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Lounder as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook Lounder flat-out isn't ready for this level of competition. Expect the Retired or Inactive Players to send him down promptly. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Lounder.
