Cagan Massucci
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He's a good late inning man, which is when being a pitcher really counts. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. The Retired or Inactive Players hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. He tends to work slowly when in a jam, which just makes his problems worse by lulling his fielders to sleep. He changes speeds well enough to keep righthanders from teeing off on him.
Defense & Hitting Massucci's move to first base is average. He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. Massucci is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Massucci has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Massucci as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook One has to wonder what Cagan Massucci is doing in AA. In all honesty, he could use a lot of work on the fundamentals in the low minors. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Massucci.
