Paul McCourt
Starting Pitcher | Free Agents
Pitching He can hit 90 MPH but is too smart to try to get his fastball past most hitters. Sometimes I wish he'd just give up on throwing the changeup, it's like a BP ball! If you're going in to face McCourt, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, McCourt's curveball tends to hang. The running movement on his pitches makes life tougher on lefties than righties.
Defense & Hitting McCourt is nothing special in the field. Teams run on him more than they do most lefthanders. McCourt is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but McCourt has some pop in his swing.
2025 Outlook I can't say I know what The Free Agents were doing locking this guy up to a long term contract. A questionable call at best. I just don't know if The Free Agents are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
