Jim Mura
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching God, who doesn't love a knuckler? I saw a slow-motion version of one of his pitches on TV, it's no wonder they're unhittable! He has an above-average changeup and the ability to throw from a variety of arm angles. The Retired or Inactive Players hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. Poor location often leads to a barrage of homers. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting Mura does an average job of holding runners. Mura's follow-through leaves him in a vulnerable position, so he has trouble with comebackers. Mura is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Mura has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Mura as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook Mura isn't cutting the mustard in the low minors. It's time for Jim to investigate other career options, like coaching highschool ball. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Mura.
