Ernest Nault
Starting Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching He can get groundballs when he needs them in a jam. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. The Retired or Inactive Players hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. His stuff becomes less sharp as he gets into the late innings. Nault is a flyball pitcher susceptible to the home run. Lefthanders continue to be a problem for Nault because he throws most of his pitches at the same speed.
Defense & Hitting His windup, though, makes him an easy target to run on. Nault seems distracted after his delivery. He's sometimes out of position, fails to cover a base or doesn't back up throws. Nault is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Nault has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Nault as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook One has to wonder what Ernest Nault is doing in AA. In all honesty, he could use a lot of work on the fundamentals in the low minors. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Nault.
