Richard Neve
Relief Pitcher | Vancouver Orcas
Pitching His best pitch is his changeup, but hitters often sit on it. He can get groundballs when he needs them in a jam. He can hit 90 MPH but is too smart to try to get his fastball past most hitters. The running movement on his pitches makes life tougher on lefties than righties.
Defense & Hitting Though he lacks a good pickoff move, he checks the running game with a compact stretch delivery. He isn't especially quick off the mound but generally fields his position adequately. Neve is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Neve has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Vancouver Orcas have been known to use Neve as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook The Vancouver Orcas signed him to a long-term contract, but don't think they won't drop Neve like a hot potato if something better comes along.
