Pitching
He can get groundballs when he needs them in a jam. He's a good late inning man, which is when being a pitcher really counts. Ogata throws a nice sinker... The rookies never seem to know when it's coming. The Guelph Storm hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting
His pickoff move is only fair. Ogata is nothing special in the field. Ogata is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Ogata has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Guelph Storm have been known to use Ogata as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook
I can't say I know what The Guelph Storm were doing locking this guy up to a long term contract. A questionable call at best. Ogata has below average skills, even for the low minors. One has to expect the Guelph Storm will give him his walking papers before the end of the season. I just don't know if The Guelph Storm are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
