Sergio Ramirez
Starting Pitcher | Regina Pirates
Pitching He can get groundballs when he needs them in a jam. Ramirez can get into trouble with walks, and there's concern about him being able to maintain his stuff over the whole season. When his release point drops below three-quarters, his fastball tends to hang in the strike zone. He attacks lefties and righties with similar success.
Defense & Hitting Ramirez does an average job of holding runners. Ramirez is nothing special in the field. Ramirez is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Ramirez has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Regina Pirates have been known to use Ramirez as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook I can't say I know what The Regina Pirates were doing locking this guy up to a long term contract. A questionable call at best. Ramirez has below average skills, even for the low minors. One has to expect the Regina Pirates will give him his walking papers before the end of the season. I just don't know if The Regina Pirates are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
