Chris Rice
Catcher | Retired or Inactive Players

Hitting
This guy can't hit a watermelon with a lampost. Rice always has been a line-drive hitter who uses the entire field. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.

Baserunning & Defense
He doesn't get good jumps on grounders, but his routes are fine and his hands aren't bad. His arm is accurate enough. Rice isn't fast, but he's a heady baserunner who rarely gets thrown out.

2025 Outlook
Rice was a rule-five pickup for the Retired or Inactive Players last year. I think The Retired or Inactive Players just didn't want to be left out of the Rule-V draft, why else would you sign Rice?
