Brownie Rood
Second Baseman | Retired or Inactive Players
Hitting Rood never has been a patient hitter. Let's face facts: Rood hits a lot of ground balls... and in my book, if you're slow of foot and put the ball on the ground, you're bound to get tied up in the double play. He hits righthanders and lefthanders with equal consistency.
Baserunning & Defense When you play Rood you're not putting him in for his glove. His biggest problem in the field simply has to be his throwing arm... it's well below par. He has below-average speed and is stiff on the basepath. He's poor on a straight steal but has some success at reading pitchers and working a delayed steal.
2025 Outlook One has to wonder what Brownie Rood is doing in AA. In all honesty, he could use a lot of work on the fundamentals in the low minors.
