Victor Shabot
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching Shabot's endurance makes him well suited to long relief. Though Shabot can't just blow the ball by hitters, he has some giddyup on his fastball. The Retired or Inactive Players hope he can work on his control a little bit. Every once and a while one slips away from him and either ends up at the backstop or in the right field bleachers. He tends to work slowly when in a jam, which just makes his problems worse by lulling his fielders to sleep. He traditionally fares better against lefties.
Defense & Hitting His pickoff move is only fair. A shaky fielder, he's slow to react to grounders and often looks unsure on his throws to the bases. Shabot is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Shabot has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Shabot as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook One has to wonder what Victor Shabot is doing in AA. In all honesty, he could use a lot of work on the fundamentals in the low minors. But if you ask me, I'll pass on Shabot.
