Tanejirou Shohda
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching If you're going in to face Shohda, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. You know, some times I think I can throw harder than Shohda, and that's saying a lot. But Shohda, do us a favor. Stop throwing that changeup. It looks like a beachball. He changes speeds well enough to keep righthanders from teeing off on him.
Defense & Hitting His move to first base continues to be erratic, resulting in poor throws at times. Shohda comes off the mound hard toward the third base side on his delivery, making it difficult for him to field balls to the right side or to cover first base on a close play. Shohda is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Shohda has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Shohda as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook Shohda was a rule-five pickup for the Retired or Inactive Players last year. I think The Retired or Inactive Players just didn't want to be left out of the Rule-V draft, why else would you sign Shohda? But if you ask me, I'll pass on Shohda.
