Peter Skelton
Relief Pitcher | Toronto Polar Bears
Pitching His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. He has an above-average changeup and the ability to throw from a variety of arm angles. If you're going in to face Skelton, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. Skelton has had a tendency to fall victim to big innings. He attacks lefties and righties the same way.
Defense & Hitting Skelton doesn't make much of an attempt to combat the running game. Basestealers ran at will last year. He hurts himself by falling awkwardly off the mound in his follow-through, which allows too many balls to go through the middle for base hits. Skelton is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Skelton has some pop in his swing.
2025 Outlook If Skelton doesn't perform, the Toronto Polar Bears won't hesitate to send him down to the minors. I just don't know if The Toronto Polar Bears are ever going to get what they expect out of him.
