Slade Thomas
Relief Pitcher | Moose Jaw Dragons
Pitching It's tough to get much loft on the ball against him, as he works down in the strike zone to begin with and his two-seamer produces mostly groundballs. His fastball gets into the high 80s, but it's the sink that makes the pitch effective. He has an above-average changeup and the ability to throw from a variety of arm angles. He's almost as effective against lefthanders as he is versus righthanders.
Defense & Hitting Thomas doesn't make much of an attempt to combat the running game. Basestealers ran at will last year. Thomas has been regarded as a poor fielder throughout his career, and last year was no different. Thomas is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Thomas has some pop in his swing.
