Efren Treadwell
Relief Pitcher | Retired or Inactive Players
Pitching A groundball pitcher, Treadwell needs to have sharp command to succeed. If you're going in to face Treadwell, better be wearing plenty of protection. He's wild. He frequently leaves fastballs up in the strike zone, where they get pounded. When you throw a curveball, it better break. Hanging curves equal earned runs in this league, you just can't get away with them. Unfortunately, Treadwell's curveball tends to hang. In his first taste of the majors, he has kept lefthanders in check but wasn't as effective against righties.
Defense & Hitting He doesn't have much of a pickoff move and he's slow getting the ball to home plate out of the set position. Treadwell comes off the mound hard toward the third base side on his delivery, making it difficult for him to field balls to the right side or to cover first base on a close play. Treadwell is a surpisingly good hitting pitcher. And I'm not sure you can say this about a pitcher, but Treadwell has some pop in his swing. Interesting sidenote, The Retired or Inactive Players have been known to use Treadwell as a pinch-runner on occasion.
2025 Outlook Treadwell was a rule-five pickup for the Retired or Inactive Players last year. I think The Retired or Inactive Players just didn't want to be left out of the Rule-V draft, why else would you sign Treadwell? But if you ask me, I'll pass on Treadwell.
